Dragonfly Am I Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

A dragonfly flew on by
Where does ye go today
With just a nod, like follow on
Come follow on this way

It is not far nor very near
For a dragonfly am I
Now with wings to move along
We two have wings to fly

Deep within the meadow
A spider spun a web to hide
Looking like a flower bud
She waves as we pass by

Tell me little dragonfly
Tell me, tell me why
Why am I in a dream with you
A dream so very nice

You are me, as so am I
Replied the dragonfly
Together we are what we are
And here we are tonight

I rest my head upon a rock
A dream came and now we're here
For how else can a dragonfly
Befriend, and speak so clear

Our time draws near for us to part
Say I the dragonfly
Perhaps someday we'll meet again
Till then, I say goodbye
