Dreaming Poem by Vera Sidhwa

Dreaming

School

Oh, I wished the bell would ring.
Then my heart's chorus would sing
I would skip and dance on the sand,
Of the playground I knew so well.

I seed and I sawed, can you imagine?
My heart was a happy flutter,
Of sandboxes and sand castles on the playground.
I dreamed, I was not in school.

The next day, the teacher spoke,
Of increasing homework from now on.
Oh, I wished the bell would ring.
Then I would vanish onto the playground and sing.
