Dreaming In The Womb Poem by Luce Darwin

Dreaming In The Womb

It is true when I said
I have loved you forever.
I dreamt of you in the womb,
where you touched me.
Where gravity couldn't pull me,
I felt the tug of your weight.
I dreamt of lightening bolts,
and I grew up dancing
and howling with the storms,
breaking with the tree limbs,
and falling in love
as the trees did under the
weight of you.
I watched the lightening
as if they were god given
instructions of destiny,
and I was not afraid.
Yet all the while I knew they
were not what I had seen.
It was when I saw your eyes
for the first time in this world
that I felt the true power
of a storm,
the heat of charge ions,
forests bending like waves,
and I was afraid then.
