Drink, Inhale, Dream Poem by Susan Vannatta

Drink, Inhale, Dream

I watch as you sip
your drink filled with
pleasure and death, and
I wish I could be
your Alcohol. I wish
I could be that poison,
resting on your lips and
washing away your worries.
I want to be your
toxicity, your addiction
and love. I wish I could
be your Alcohol.

I watch as you inhale
your relief and release,
calming your mind.
I wish I could be
your Smoke. I wish I
could twist through
the air you breathe and
fill your lungs with
the cancer you so crave.
I want to be your
peace, your perfection
and love. I wish I could
be your Smoke.

I watch as you dream
of your serenity and
your every need, and
I wish I could be
your Love. I wish
I could be that girl,
haunting your brain and
monopolizing your mind.
I want to be your
other half, your want
and your need. I wish I could
be your Love.
