Drinking At Night Long Into The Night Poem by Terence George Craddock

Drinking At Night Long Into The Night

rare precious moments
repeated throughout time
two friends or a few
sharing cups drinking
at night long into dark night
at magic moments in darkness
when the night silent still covers
web world in deep dark satin silence

in friendship we friends may meet
in joy or distress in failure or success
this is wise well rounded drinking
which encompasses a full circle of life
some fail on this scale buck cup norm
do not drink in hardship distress failure

very little when adversity strikes
this is a time for clear thinking
new possibilities motivation seeds
firmly clasp hand of true friends
sip sip slowly filled cup if time suits
some drown sorrows some surface swim

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM

Written in September 2020 on the 15&7.9.2020.
Inspired by the poem 'Some People Say - Κάποιοι Λένε' by the poet Kostas Lagos. The superb second stanza second line in my poem is one of the most beautiful descriptive images I have ever read in a poem, and is almost a direct quote from the poem 'Some People Say - Κάποιοι Λένε', from the third and fourth line.
Dedicated to the poet Kostas Lagos.
