Dry Well Of Doubt Poem by Katherine Graven

Dry Well Of Doubt

Rating: 5.0

Hand in hand we walk through the days
Walking prideful beside you in a magical haze
Taking in your words of love at face value
Never knowing behind my back you were constantly laughing

I told you to not even try and to leave me alone
You took that as an invitation and the challenge was on
Your promises were given to only deceive
How could I have known you could steal my heart with such ease

Your addictions they took control of our life
You broke the promise that I would be your wife
I lost everything including my car and home
You had no guilt of what you had done wrong

I’m left with all the bills in this mess called life
You said it was all my fault as you took flight
I still can not believe that I was so blind
It is for the best you will go your way and I will go mine

I feel like hell opened up and swallowed me whole
You knew all the right words and how was I to know
That Hell had sent out a demon with eyes of blue
God why did you not send me some kind of clue?

NOW

The seed of distrust has all ready been sown
Taking away the security of what I have known
For this game called love has been played out
And now all that is left is a dry well of doubt

All the while wondering
If I will ever allow another into my heart

Time Will Tell
