Dumbed Down In Home Towns Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Dumbed Down In Home Towns

What is it the rewards,
Those choosing ignorance to keep it.
And those making up lies to tell.
Taught by others to do this well.

What is it about truth.
People seem only capable to share,
With a priest.
Inside a darkened confession booth.
And then done to beg forgiveness.

Intentions meant are not kept hidden.
Many are heard to brag about evils,
They have created to initiate.

Dumbed down in home towns around the World.
People caught up in expectations,
Better lives to receive and get...
Depends upon who they can inflict,
A wickedness to suffer from it.
As if bestowed a badge to prove a doing,
How they made someone else grieve.
Dumbed down in home towns around the World.

Blame claimers.
Fault accusers all.
Spoiled by promises.
And made to become jealous and envious.
Of others they wish they could be,
But never will.
Yet expect empathy to get it.
For their own addiction to stupidity.
A stupidity to accept.
Along with so many others,
Fed to feed upon this faithfully.
As if a need they can not reject,
Portraying themselves to be victims.

And...
Done to dumb down in home towns,
Witnessed and easily found around the World.
With it meant to intend.
But for what does this benefit?
To achieve and rewards!
