Dusty Roads Poem by Juan Olivarez

Dusty Roads

You will travel dusty roads,
And stumble on stones upon the ground.
Carrying your heavy load,
Your throat so dry it makes no sound.

You will encounter dogs that bite,
And barbed wire along the way.
Too soon the onslaught of the night,
Before you see the light of day.

But will it be worth it? Only you can judge.
There are obstacles for everyone,
The secret is not to hold a grudge,
And someday you battle will be won.
