Early Works - For Kindness Must Survive Poem by David Harris

Early Works - For Kindness Must Survive

With majestic of old,
the fire of the city
with sadness of the suburbs
and sorrow of poverty
I walk in the blindness of the quiet
with mute expression
that reflects misgiving.

With the world in darkest despair
I breathe in smoke filled air
then against a background of black,
I slowly fight the fantasy for fact,
but the battle is a long one
with sorrow on either side
and until it’s won, I must hide.

There seems no room
for the good only bad
but I must fight
for kindness must survive
and bad destroyed
for good must stay alive
it must be that way to survive.
