Early Works - May I Bid You Farewell Poem by David Harris

Early Works - May I Bid You Farewell

Rating: 5.0

You’re here but a short time
never knowing how short time is,
but you live for lasting forever
because that is the only way to live.
You do not think of the black hours
or groups of circular bouquets
but of living forever
little by little each day.

A smile that brought gayety
is silent on a face still
you rest so peacefully
away from harm and ill,
if there be a better world
then you are surely there
for people like you in our troubled time
we find are so rare,
so before the closing silence
may I bid you farewell.
