Earth From Space Poem by Martin Ward

Earth From Space

Rating: 4.3

Earth from Space

You look so beautiful:
putting on your finest face.
Royal blue and virgin white.
Africa looks green from space.

You run around the Sun.
Your children play or fight.
Twirling, swirling with constancy.
Cities burn bright by night.

I see you from a distant view;
I feel you with a lover's touch.
This child feeds from your breasts:
one more mouth that takes too much.

Do you ever feel despair?
Your children waste and rape you.
Yet still you give us more:
forgiving whatever we do.

Can you feel your children kicking?
Do you ever yearn for rest?
Why do we not love you more?
Are we looking to fledge the nest?
