Earth's Treasures Poem by Marianne Scarfe

Earth's Treasures

Rating: 5.0

Countless treasures from many lands
Shall come to rest in children's hands,

The scented flower and bumblebee
The busy ant, the leafy tree

The darting fish and dragonfly
Of silver streams that trickle by

The panda and the hummingbird
The silent snake, the galloping herd

The lion, bear and buffalo
The graceful swan as white as snow

The elephant and the tiny wren
Dark forest, plain and watery fen

Those that swim and those that creep
In valleys green and oceans deep

Creatures common, creatures rare,
The sparrow and the polar bear

Creatures large and creatures small
Listen to their silent call:

Your World is our World too
Look after us, we belong to you.

The darting fish and dragonfly
Of silver streams that trickle by

The panda and the hummingbird
The silent snake, the galloping here

The lion, bear and buffalo
The graceful swan as white as snow

The elephant and the tiny wren
Dark forest, plain and watery fen

Those that swim and those that creep
In valleys green and oceans deep,

Creatures common, creatures rare
The sparrow and the polar bear,

Creatures large and creatures small
Listen to their silent call...

Your World is our World too,
Look after us, we belong to you.
