Eavesdrop Poem by Ima Ryma

Eavesdrop

Humans ask what do chipmunks do?
So humans grabbed a bunch of us,
Put spy microphones on the crew,
And first learned that chipmunks can cuss.
Cussing sounds, the humans call 'chip, '
In varied tones to indicate
Alarm within the chipmunkship.
The more alarm, the shriller rate.
The humans deem us to be smart
And sensitive to all around.
Our cussing is hearing art
To human ears - it does confound!

The chipmunk reality show,
The really real one - doncha know!
