Through the window's gentle glow,
I watch the morning's colors grow,
Yet in the room, the voices fade,
And only light and dreams remain displayed.
I felt the sting of words unkind,
They echoed deep within my mind.
I never thought my final day
Would end in such a heavy way.
I longed to cry, to let it show,
While watching sunlight's tender flow.
But no, I'll leave with lifted grace,
A smile the last they'll see on my face.
For still, I'm thankful, love was near,
Though not enough to keep me here.
I'll walk away, my heart set free,
This too will fade, a memory.
