Eclipse Of The Moon (Free Verse Sonnet) Poem by Gert Strydom

Eclipse Of The Moon (Free Verse Sonnet)

(in answer to Daniel Hugo)

Like wild wolves the dogs did howl
when the moon hanged bloody red in the sky,
the cats did hide themselves at places
and for something the pets were scared
but when that darkness did suddenly come
everything was almost like death silent,
a power station did fail and I was astonished
and did wonder about the will of God
as the light of the moon did disappear,
I could notice no stars in the darkness,
I could not get the power-generator going
and the battery and light of my mobile phone was weak,
I realised that the Second Coming of God was near,
was of my own sin aware in the darkness.
