Either as commoner
Or as soldier
The retirement age brings no comfort
As life comes to sudden halt
From active participation
To calm and silent evolution
Makes them to feel lonely
And stand as of no use totally
If you were strict disciplinarian
You will be viewed as villain
The staff may turn sometimes hostile
It may not like your visit again
It is different story altogether
You were helpless to offer
As office rules did not permit you to be lenient
And interest of the institution was paramount
The real zeal does not permit
To make you feel unfit
As work demands total involvement
This affects the moral after retirement
It is a wonderful poem where you have made an objective assessment of the changed routine after retirement of a strict disciplinarian. But I think the qualities imbibed during one's youth always remain with him to keep him in good stead. Thanks, Sir.
