Elders And Friends Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Elders And Friends

Rating: 5.0

I was reminded often
By elders and friends even
Don't choose unknown path
And never dive in deep water for bath

I used to feel bad about untimely advice
As it was not needed to keep up the promises
Who knew and what may be needed for action?
I accepted in principle but reserved reaction

For all these years I had grown under protective custody
I had kind parent, brothers, sisters and above all powerful almighty
Yet something pinched me and reminded all the times
Where was I heading for in aimless direction sometimes?

I went in search for the solution
It struck mind with internal resolution
Life is not meant for eating and passing time
It has to have some meaning all the times

I sat on railway track and continued
Until arrival of train broke the chain and discontinued
I witnessed the passing of train with thick smoke in air
Suddenly it struck me with the solution and it seemed fair

The last wagon was becoming smaller and smaller
Until it disappeared in horizon little later
I could trace only two tracks for observation
They were all meant for me to find out real situation

Yes life is full of good and bad tracks
That can never meet even if something is at stake
One can pass on single track for fulfillment of mission
One should be clearly choose between emission or omission

Life has to disintegrate in specified but uncertain terms
No one knows about it or when may be actual turn?
It is all that we forecast and leave it to the fate
Pray daily for it to be smooth soon or late

I have felt full satisfaction
As there is no doubt for any of the action
It is individual's choice
To keep self ready without any noise

Sabeen Rashid and Lela Northcross Wakely like this. Sabeen Rashid You sound so philosophical in this one. Seems like you are planning to delve into it a bit more and come up with a book on it. No problem there, but I like you the way you are, a die-hard romantic. Loved this poem though. You're right, the road ahead is full of twists and turns. It's how best we keep ourselves conditioned to face them in our stride, with an inner conviction and determination coupled with grace and courage.20 hours ago via mobile · Unlike · 1
