Electricity Poem by Oge Nwankwo

Electricity

Electricity...
It makes you think of lightbulbs and lightening
Bolts, zaps, an utterly intense feeling of fire
Except without freedom
For the flames blaze so high and wild
It is not exactly one you can tame
That is what you are to me
An electrifying shock

I feel it everytime you may be near
I am arrested when your eyes aim at mine
And words so carefully rehearsed
Are dizzolved by your focused glare
All of life keeps moving except for time
It seems you have persuaded it to pause
For fear this beautiful moment will slip away
You are electrifying

Darkness consumes when you leave the room
Blindness presumes till I can see through your eyes
Light
Adrenaline
Fear
Bliss...
Electricity is what he says we are
Who am I to argue?
