Elegy To A Friend Poem by Sadiqullah Khan

Elegy To A Friend

you plucked few thorns from the shimmering Eye,
watered them to flowers, the weight of your riches
lighted by the burdens shed in love on others,
glorious heaviness of the toils of living -
generous of heart, noble of character, grace dispose,
and the common air we breathed, is still fragrant.

-To our (Ghulam Haider, Khursheed Haider and myself) s' common friend Munir Lakhani, who passed away on January 16,2016.
