Elephant Scale Poem by Lauren Coles

Elephant Scale

Do you wonder what happened to a elephant when gets on the scale,
It doesn't bother them one bit that they break the scale,
They are trying to accomplish the same goal as humans,
It doesn't bother them to be stared at,
You might lose some friends because of the weight issue,
But they are not your real friends anymore if they choose to treat you that way,
It's a long process in order to lose the weight,
If elephants could talk they would say "I got you if you have me,
When the rain comes they would dry your tears,
You think leaving the world behind because your weight won't hurt your loved ones,
It does,
Every day is a new beginning with new adventures to unpack.
