Elvis Presley Poem by Ramona Thompson

Elvis Presley

Every hound dog has his day
Long live the king, but now we really must be movin' on
Viva Las Vegas
It's been fun, but now it's truely over
Such a shame that this is how we have to end

Poisoned by the pressures of too much, too soon
Really now for sure the king has left the building
Even his most beloved friends did't know until now that he was still out there
Slowly but surely preparing to rejoin the world of the living, until fate stepped in to take away that chance
Loved them so much that he would have given up the peace of mind that came with finally being free
Every day now for forever we shall mourn the loss of this always great man
Youthful, full of life, and yearning

Always yearning, but never quite finding his way out
Out of the trap that fame and fortune made of his life

a great trubute to the king. August 16 it will be 31 years. I can remember when he first came out, and the first time that I went and saw Love Me Tender at the RKO in Des Moines Iowa in 1956. boy seems like yesterday. this was a great poem will put it in my favorites.
