in the sad times in the bad times
in times of increasing race riots
in times of increasing terrorism
in times of increasing violence
in times of increasing intolerance
is it not time for compassionate souls
to sing to dance to enjoy shared community events
is it not time for compassionate souls

to gather sit down to eat to break bread together
to admire to respect beauty found in other cultures
to admire to respect love kindness in other culture eyes
to meet with open hearts extended hand of friendship
to embrace support each other in times of hardship
to embrace human potential in our common humanity

choose cruelty or kindness love curse or bless other lives
