Empty Words Poem by Stanley Coffin

Empty Words

Those words are so beautiful but as beautiful as they are,
Are they as true,
Words I've heard before from you,
I cannot live and love just off words anymore,
I need more than beautiful words to stay I need for you to do what you say,
Words without actions can't and will not get anymore reactions,
I'm tired of and will forsake any meaningless words promising everything and delivering nothing but heart break,
It is easier to start again and to move forward than it is to remain,
And I need for the picture that those beautiful words paint to be real so that I can touch, hold and feel,
Without these things there is nothing to hold onto but memories of what could have been,
Taking another chance at romance is also taking another chance at disappointment and heartbreak a place I've already seen,
For words can be very powerful and moving but therein lies the predicament for without meaning all that they promise just becomes lost in the wind.
