Enemy Within Poem by Kennedy Nayebare

Enemy Within

Am not afraid of you.
Not afraid of your generation.
I wasn't afraid of those that came
before you
and am not afraid of your
predecessors...
Am not afraid of all these illusions
that surround me.
Am not afraid of the ever
changing climate.
Not afraid of the floods in the city
streets.
Neither am I afraid of the filth
unattended to in the suburbs...
Am not afraid of my double-faced
accomplices.
Not even afraid of the Lukewarm!
Am not afraid of the ghosts from
my past.
Not afraid of the premonitions of
my future...
Am not afraid of these shadows.
Not afraid of the Abyss.
Am neither afraid of the demons
that crawl at night.
Nor those that walk among us in
daylight...
Am afraid of me.
Afraid of the enemy within...
