Engine Of Existence (For Kumarmani Mahakul) Poem by Kevin Patrick

Engine Of Existence (For Kumarmani Mahakul)

Rating: 5.0

the body is a vehicle, the driver is your mind,
the soul is what units the material to the divine.
let freedom be the speed that gear accelerations rush
but use your conscience as breaks if your close to being crushed
roads are always changing, hills, turns and constant bumps
but if you face the challenge you've got the wheels to jump
The essence of your being is constantly fleeing
Life's a worthwhile ride, embracing the scenes and unseeing
Let knowledge and understanding be your mortal helms
And the soul is the voyager of all the higher realms

Kumaramani sir always reminds us through his poems that man is not just made up of flesh and blood, but he has a soul which is immortal. This soul is the engine that drives the body! One who maintains a balance between the physical and the spiritual is able to enjoy peace and happiness! Life is a bumpy ride. If the driver is able to apply the brakes at the needed time and drive carefully, he will surely reach his destination. A well deserved write for Kumaramani sir!

Beautiful. Your poem reminded me of a Katha Upanishad verse; ātmānam rathinam viddhi sharīram ratham eva tu | buddhim tu sārathim viddhi manah pragraham eva cha || Know the soul as the charioteer, The body as the chariot, Know intellect as the chariot in charge, And mind as controlling reins.
