Equally Sad And Tragic Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Equally Sad And Tragic

Equally sad and tragic it is.
To observe and witness ignorance,
Dispensing such evilness.
As a life taking pandemic,
Is not accepted as serious.
By those claiming to have entitlements,
To perceive with belief they can be...
Thoughtless, selfish and unconcerned.
For others who suffer,
In hospitals only wishing to breathe.
As those loving them the most,
Pace the floor, sit or standby.
Await to hear,
Whether their relatives, friends...
Or close neighbors to have known.
Have either died or survived a virus.

Sad and tragic.
This reality is shared equally by many.
With more pain inflicted to endore,
Coming inflicted by the ones who sit...
In positions of leadership.
Playing games of divisive politics.
For temporary power of it this gets.

But Hell?
To pay the price paid for it.
Has a depth deep without a bottom.
And is just as eternal as the Universe.
It had to have had a beginning.
Yet the ending?
Pointless to debate.

Although,
Hell awaits.
Less with patience to tolerate.
And those signs repeatedly gone to ignore,
No more...
Is time given,
To come and allow that knocking to stop.
On the doors of the ones,
Permitting themselves to commit...
Such atrocious evil chores.
