To the ends of the earth I thought we'd sail
But, with the rest of time, our bonds did break
So naive I was thinking love could prevail
For my once dearly beloveds are now estranged.
The promises made in Arabian bays
The journeys made on Norwegian straits
The dangers caused, the mischiefs made
With loneliness comes the longing for those days.
Come spring, winter, autumn or fall
The memories will stay engraved in my bones
Truly, solitude is the profoundest of all conditions
For man, I now believe, is the only being who knows he's alone.
