Eulogies And Wedding Speeches Poem by D.N. Rebb

Eulogies And Wedding Speeches

Rating: 5.0

In thoughts, a rehearsal of difficult words
Personal narratives to be well expressed
Like an over-paid actor repeating his lines on cards
An ancestral spirited audience playfully suggests
An empty uncrowded room establishes composure
Yet, weary eyes should never fail in the mirror
Are reflections of somebody else taking over?
Could this someone then accompany this bearer?

Just representing an imaginary role
Loathing dry eulogies or wedding speeches
Entertainment for starving emotional souls
Like interesting well-read books that subtly caress
Everyone needs to take something away
Making several points humorously
Slightly jerk the heart to convey
And don't make this about yourself purposely

Championships are earned, not taken
Life is a novel for everyone to read
For some, their endings can easily reshape
For others, theirs are still slightly ahead
Wipe away the sentimental tears
We've expressly done our part
Someone will follow, don't fear
There will always be more to report

We will all remain in everyone's thoughts
An unnecessary competition at play
Shame on thinking in this mannerly cross
Not sure why we make ourselves feel this way
No speech is intentionally wrong
The right thing deserves compliments
Just don't immensely prolong
Everyone's words are well-meant

Eulogies and wedding speeches
Entertaining the emotions
A ready story to re-assess
We are all characters at times again
With our descendants on our shoulders
This filled room still echoes in silence
All tales need an ending to occur
Fibs need to be discovered between the lines

In time, everyone will understand
That we're all gravely alike
Where does that particular fact land?
If we all get it right on the first strike

There are no wrongful excesses
In eulogies and wedding speeches
