Dilettante
I write really bad poetry
Someone called me dilettante
No idea what that even meant
So I had looked it up to see
An amateur who engages
Without serious intentions
And pretends to just know it all
But doesn't care if lose or wins
It pretty much describes my skill
Yet still felt somewhat insulted
Didn't ask for folks to judge me
My defensiveness confronted
I'll still go on writing bad poems
If you don't like ‘em, don't read ‘em
Never fessed being great at this
It's my mere pleasure to condemn
For those who dabble as novice
Let Shakespeare turn over with shame
There are great masters in this art
But dilettantes make no claim
Carry on writing from the heart. Never allow anyone to put you down. If it's someone on here i wonder if it's who I'm thinking it is? Stand tall! To what others think. Love your poems x
A poem is like a song and as you know, we either like a certain song or not but that doesn't mean it's a bad song, just a song that person doesn't like, others may love it!
Shakespeare wrote to entertain, we jsut deified him after death. I don't think the actual guy would be ashamed at all!
Keep writing "…bad poems" and I go on reading them and rereading them. I know how to write bad poems that get deactivated. Excellent work. Keep doing it.
Who cares, there is a saying ' when elephant walks every dog on street barks at him, if elephant had to fight each one of them, how elephant will reach his destination' so keep walking let them do their work you continue with yours, A thoughtful poem, never the less DN.
