Ev'Ryone's Got A Price Poem by Dave Dafes

Ev'Ryone's Got A Price

Placed on the balance,
Ascertain its weight.
Life tests us to know our worth.
Pressed beyond our limits,
Some stand, some fall, some crawl
In shame, trading to the highest bidder.

We work; we fight, to live our lives.
Our conscience guides our ev'ry step,
Ev'ryone is got a price they say,
But not ev'ryone could be bought,
Ev'rything bow to pressure they say,
But none could move a man of character,

Truth for sale, integrity has a tag,
A nickel or a dime,
Will yours be bought?
Will your principle stand,
When your price is named?
Or you rather fall for your believes?

I saw a man who couldn't be bought,
Nothing can make him sway,
A pillar of trust he stood unshaken,
No price is worth his prize,
Though ev'ryone may,
To the powers of Mammon, succumb,
Others may trade for a morsel of bread,
Yet in poverty, he chose to wallow,
The price for honesty he fain to pay,

Do not be like conniving Judas,
That sold his soul for thirty pieces of silver,
Be upright, filled with virtue,
Purge yourself of ev'ry vice,
For a good name they say is worth than rubies,
When lost can never be found,
Be known to be a man of character,
For many fortune is its reward,
Follow not the way that seemeth right,
B’cause the end thereof, is the way of death.
