Cut the apple through
and see the heart,
unblemished,
full of juice,
of sweetness
for the taking;
fruit handed you today
does not hold
the eden taint,
the worm of old
that twisted truth
and made it lies;
drink deep and
hear the crystal
ringing down the lines,
all levels of the words
the same, no shadows,
ambiguities that turn
joy on its head,
just fruit, fresh,
fragrant, ready
to be tasted.
