Even Today

whatever it is
He'll help you find
the path to travel
even snow blind
even neglected
by space or by time
worried to sickness
and left without rhyme
scolded and fretted
and led astray
cling to his presence
he only will stay
ever beside You
never unkind
always the Saviour
yours and mine
never abandoning
never unsure
always the one
who will help you endure
prevail and be happy
oh child of the Pure
whatever may come
and whoever may go
Christ only always
the one you should know
will never deceive you
or hasten away
will care that you're crying
or that you're dismayed
will shield you when others are filled with scorn
cruel and deriding in every storm
he'll be your shelter from night to morn
and cradle you just as if you were just born
aware of the beauty that still remains
leading you always away from pain
when all that you're feeling
you never could say
he hears you always
oh, even today.
