Everyone's Gone To The Moon Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

Everyone's Gone To The Moon

Venus and Jupiter and the moon
Were all aligned on the night we met.
There were only pink clouds to hide this view,
Just you and I in the moonlight, as a set.

We were both in our teens four decades ago,
Unattached with no date in mind.
I looked up into the night sky,
Without my glasses I mostly was blind.

Other teens now gathered around us,
And followed my lead and looked up.
Except for you who was looking
Into my eyes like I was a pup!

I asked you why you were smiling.
You said you saw the moon in my eyes.
It was then the first time I noticed
Your eyes sparkled and tantalized.

So thank you Mr. Moonlight.
Thank you planets that shine.
And thank You Lord for the stars above,
And for the girl who that night became mine.
