Everything And Less Poem by Dean Meredith

Everything And Less

I'd love for them
To think of me
As a deity
But I'd set them straight
Let them know
I'm nothing more
Than them
Sucking my goodness
From Mother Life
And Father Death
Their consummation
My reasoning
For existence
Such a great
Intransient thing
I told her straight
From the beginning
I'm nothing special
She said the same
I liked her for it
Gave her very little
Comparatively speaking
She gave me
Beginnings and endings
I'd never known
And always knew
Perfect in their
Improbability
