Expressing Forgiveness Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Expressing Forgiveness

Anyone who does a wrong to another.
And with consciousness to intend it,
Meant to do without thought to use.
Can expect to pay the consequences.
Regardless who volunteers,
To donate their empathy.
Or allow them to borrow,
An unused excuse to make.
Anyone who does a wrong to another,
Eventually awakens.
To choose to label their misdeed a mistake.
But the one who had been picked,
As an experiment to inflict evil.
Also becomes the one who cares less,
How a misdeed doer...
Confesses of a wrong to do to others.
To know the intent meant to implement,
Had been effective to feel to keep it felt.
Regardless of the consequences.
Or how long it takes the wrong doer to pay.
If it leaves them indebted to emotional depths.

"What about expressing forgiveness? "

-I forgave myself already.
And it worked too! -

"I didn't mean that way.
But...
What did you do? "

-Instead of seeking revenge.
And I was prepared. Don't misunderstand.
But...
Check this out.
I prayed to God to step in.
And do what was best,
To allow me the patience...
That would leave me knowing,
How God can be...
Much more creative and less obvious.
You know...
Without the yelling and screaming.
Or calling somebody,
Who would have loved spreading gossip.-

"Wow!
And you stayed that patient for how long? "

-I couldn't believe it myself.
I didn't even think about it anymore.
And when it happened...
Why and who did what?
It was if,
I had not been involved at all.
Why are you staring at me like that? -

"I...uh...
Seriously. What happened to you? "

-I forgave myself.
The moment I allowed somebody else,
To think...
They could use me to mess up their life.
And I thought about that.
Knowing if that's what they wanted to do,
They can't blame me when that happens! -
