Fair Winds Poem by C. Michael Miller

Fair Winds

Rating: 5.0

It was your warm lips that smiled and invited.
Good fortune had I, when into your
arms I alighted.

It was magic, each night at table,
sipping the fruit of the vine.
We created our own lover’s fable,
hearts quickening over verses
of reason and rhyme.

It was your belly that danced before me,
caressing mine.
Your curvaceous tender hips
that I remember, feeling so sublime.

It was your eyes that made star-stuff,
creating the ties that bind.
Could I kiss you... hold you enough,
to make you mine?

Alas, as each mourning dawns, I feel your
heart moving further afield.
But, it was you... always you,
that taught me how it is to live,
and to truly feel.

Fly then, sweet bird,
the rest of your days.
Chase your sky,
ride the Sun’s rays.

My all-when heart is yours,
in no wise will it impede.
You’re off now to new horizons
and Fair Winds,
Fair Winds, indeed.
