Faith In Mankind Poem by Luz Hanaii

must accept there are those we can't trust
their initial charm draws in
befriend for selfish gain,
soon realize there's no interest in you
it's all about them
leaves me observing, pensive, sad
perhaps such forces to demolish meant
old ways in us
to remodel and strengthen our home
yet faith in mankind I have not lost
I observe, forgive, love self, move on
my heart still gives the benefit of doubt
until proven otherwise
