Falling From Grace: Second Version Poem by Paula Glynn

Falling From Grace: Second Version

Like the ancient Gods of Egypt
I am falling from grace
My angel wings are broken
My angel feathers scattered
Across the chilly autumn ground.

Like Judas betraying Jesus
My angelic status is gone
No longer playing any of those
Happy love songs
On the empty-of-life radio.

Like Satan tricking and turning on God
I am left alone in the devil's prison
The devil weaving nasty dreams
Dreams that scare and shock
The devil that refuses to be stopped.

Like a world leader turning psychopathic
I am left on Jesus's cross
Jesus bleeding with his crown of thorns
Suffering with all the pain of the world
Having made others suffer fear and violence.

Like the mythological Greek gods
I am fighting other gods of power
I am fighting their damned agendas
I am fighting their wicked wrath
I am fighting the curse of the devil.

Like hell's motivated demon
I am following orders I don't want to obey
I should be a soldier and them slay
I should draw their life-giving blood
And watch them bleed for their love.

Like a curse descended from a witch
A witch that surely burnt at the stake
I am in pain for everything I take
I am paying the price
For my crimes and my villainy.

Like the evil serial killer of the 1800's
I am living the neverending nightmare
I am stalked in the forest darkness
On the run from a hero with a sword
A hero that does work for the lord.

Like the all-knowing God above I do love
In spite of this angel falling from grace
Where having now been forgiven
And praying for his immortal grace
Time thankfully carries on losing my disgrace.
