Farewell Poem by Hamd Ejaz

Alas! ! ! ! ! !
the inevitable has happened! !
the dark has consumed the light
the flame has consumed the candle
and the night has consumed the moon
and there is nothing for me except gloom

i have seen the departing leaves of autumn
as they bid farewell to their offspring
their faces pale with happiness
regardless they have to face death at the bottom

i have seen people wavering to their loved ones
i have seen tears of love and hope in their eyes
but a fear grips them as they turn back
that the hopes of returning are nothing but lies


i have seen the sailors return to land
i have seen the spring return to nature
i have seen the fragrance return to flowers
i have seen the ship return to harbours

but, my love, this is the last i see of you
this time there will be no return
for my hands have parted with yours
for my eyes have parted with yours

we made a promise once
till death do us part
now, i will fulfill my promise
just as the departing leaves of autumn
i will lay forever in the sea at its bottom! !
