Farewell To Yesterday Poem by April Humason

Farewell To Yesterday

Rating: 5.0

The sun will rise on a softer dawn,
And without your shadow, I move on.
No longer held by what went wrong,
I loose the chains that kept me drawn.

In your eyes, I was hard to see,
A quiet soul lost at sea.
But now the wind is carrying me,
Back to who I'm meant to be.

You led me near a breaking edge,
Where fragile hearts are hard to pledge.
I set myself upon a ledge
And chose to turn instead of wedge.

When rain was all you ever knew,
My sky grew tired and breaking too.
So I release what was untrue,
And let in light my whole life through.

As stars go dim, you fade from view,
Like grains of sand the wind once blew.
Life is too brief to live askew,
I choose the bright, I choose what's new.

Now I say goodbye without regret,
A journey clean, a soul reset.
The past is gone — no chains, no debt.
I rise in light. I won't forget.
