Farmers With Sadness And Happiness - Poem by Kumarmani Mahakul

Favourable weather brings happiness
Among the farmers and their families
If scarcity of rain does appear
Black clouds of sadness cover the farmers.

The golden bunches of paddy dance
With the breezes and whispering winds
Looking at the scenery of paddy fields
Farmers do get unexpressible joys.

Farmers lead life with sadness and happiness
Using old and new technics of cultivation
They see sweet dreams in festive mood
Festivals bring them transient pleasure.

Often poor farmers eat water soaked rice
With the salted dried pieces of green mangoes
Having salt, onions and green chillies
They get maximum satiation due to hunger.

We get food grains for farmers
Without it money can't meet the hunger
When people feel the importance of them
They will treat them well social beings.

Topic(s) of this poem: farmers, festival, food, lifestyle, rain

Form: Prose Poem

A farmer's fate is largely determined by the climate. If the climate is favorable, he gets a good crop! If there is a spell of drought or intense rain, the cultivation, especially paddy will be damaged! So a farmer's occupation is almost like a gamble! A great poem on farming and farmers! An informative poem, depicting the rural conditions of living, with both positive and less positive aspects of it; and yet, joy predominates at the end of the day, and of the season, celebrating the harvest. (Report)Reply
