Father Christmas Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Father Christmas

On Christmas Eve, night cold and crisp
Sky glittering with stars, all quiet and still
Snow begins to fall thick and fast
Trees and roofs sparkling with snowflakes.
Children lay abed trying to stay awake
Wanting to see red-coated Santa Clause
Rotund jolly elderly bearded man
Bringing presents in a sack with Christmas cheer
Longing to hear the jingle of his sleigh bells
Drum beat of reindeer hooves in harness
As they land gently upon the roof above.
The faithful gather at midnight in churches
Celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ
Praying for world with lasting peace and love.
