Fathers Day Poem by Daya Nandan

Fathers Day

You raised me up, you gave me the best,
My father that i know and love, greatest man from the rest,
You watched me grow as time slowly stole your strength and youth
And yet you hid your troubles from me, never revealing the truth

Those times where i would wait till 2 a.m just to see my dad.
You would work every night for us, i am truly glad,
To have a father like you, so caring and strong,
You imparted so many virtues to teach me from right from wrong,

You gave up everything just to raise your young child
You gave the best for me, took bullets for me and yet you cheerfully smiled
Life was hard when we were broke but you somehow put food on the table
All that hardwork you put in to ensure the family was always financially stable

I can never know how you paid the bills and put up with my adolecent rebellios acts
And yet still find time to advice me in my problems using cold hard facts,
The years you spent planning my future, the time you spent building me up,
Making sure i was in the pink of health, making sure my bad acts were all cleaned up,

I have never seen a man so diciplined and decicated to his family through life's storms,
I truly want you to know that to me you are God in his many divine forms,
Despite how tough life was you always conditioned yourself to be tougher
Hiding all of it behind a smile, you decided to hide all that pain that you suffer
