'Fine As Cat...' Poem by Lillian Susan Thomas

'Fine As Cat...'

Rating: 5.0

Fine as cat
whiskers, the dream tickles
gossamer sleep,
lets the vision escape,
like a breeze
through the spider's web.
But the joke gets caught
in my throat,
and I wake up laughing:
just can't remember
the punchline.

What a wonderful poem - the subject matter is totally unexpected after reading the title. It reminds me of my son when he was little. He always woke up laughing and could never remember the punchline! But more than that, the figurative language used to denote the ephemerality of the dreamlike state is just perfect. S :)

Very nice, full of action and images with a surprise ending. This line is nice: 'like a breeze through the spider's web'.
