Firefly - Poem by Buddy Bee Anthony

Said you don't want to hurt
the way I been hurtin'
'deep these daggers
in this fool heart of mine'
The day's long past since
my shows final curtain
To scrounge a short piece of somethin
I have to wait in line'
He drinks and smokes his stuff
to soothe his pain away
A Makers Mark or something stronger
to end his day
Again dreaming a dream of you know who
so very far away

He wonders what you're dreaming of
He wonders If you wonder about him too
he wonders if you lie awake in bed at night
or do you do up the town
Sitting in the study with wine and a pill
or hypnotizing, m mesmorizing everybody by
your unmistakable talents they all gather round
What then with the spotlight on you so blinding
May there be peace in the
masterpieces we're finding

I have one hope.
That is ifthe Heavens
should ever again part The Sea
and your light of a billion stars
should ever again fall on me
we could share a cup of coffee
give a second glance at we
Cut a better deal between the
both of you
than two for you and one for me
We could turn our light down low
Then burn white hot
to dim our glow
This is inside information
It might be nice to know
You can stay a while longer
before you're off to your next show
Firefly, what happens now!
Will you burst with pride
be bold
When all that glitter is fools gold.
Does it matter anyhow
Sing it loud
do us proud
Key of G
6/8 time
drop your rhyme

oh firefly

you do
