First Day Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

First Day

I entered the school
As simple guy and looking fool
With no friends around
It was like unknown ground

I had dreamed
And beamed
With imagination
About school uniform and tuition

My mind was engulfed
And terrified
At the stories heard so far from many parents
The teachers should not beat me in everybody’s presence

I slowly picked finger of father
There was happiness on face of mother
“Good bye son” take full care
When you come back, the sweet will be ready here

My mouth got turned watery
She was on her way already
With joy remaining unhidden
Her son was gong o school with many children
