Fishing To Net A Big One Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Fishing To Net A Big One

Excessive.
External.
Assessing...
To determine,
What one has to value...
Instead of that person's
Frame of mind and worth,
Says a lot to the one being assessed...
About the shallowness of the assessor.

A scanning done before introductions are made,
Does not make the doing of it...
A good first impression to leave,
For someone seeking a relationship...
With the hope to be seen with a prized trophy.

Embarrassment is usually felt,
When someone hollow has been told...
Their fishing to net a big one,
Would be better spent on obtaining lessons...
On how to approach those,
Who are accustomed to sighting a leech.
