sadly I cannot reply directly Annette and Mihaela, the PH reply box has refused to work for over 30 minutes so I am forced to reply as a general comment; yes Annetee the title was a carefully sought image; and Mihaela the effect was the climate differences of differing states of water in differing locations, I had the image of high mountain creeks streams rivers and swimming in these places in contrast to the beach; the water and swimming was not however the theme of the poem, so wind and temperature remained the key focus.

I like the surprising second line: it made me immediately think of a hour distance between the mountains and the sea - skiing and then sunbathing. A lovely poem.
