Flying Eagle Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Flying Eagle

Rating: 4.5

Don't try to crush my soul
don't try to destroy the peace within you,
with every step you take against others
you adopt the quantum of retribution upon you;
if you cannot accept the superiority of truth
if you cannot defeat the venom of your condemnation;
you are but one flying eagle looking for its prey
and from above the circumference of your expectations
you are gliding low, slowly descending, dissipating rage
and falling onto the ground, destroying your own self
crushing your own eternal peace in the action of hatred;
and before you find yourself in the abyss of no return
stop yourself from being that flying eagle of hatred,
soar into the realms of appreciation which will revert
into the palms of your own hands even if you don't ask,
just like the eagle that hovers and returns on it's master's arm
without any command but with a silent dive of reciprocation.
