Though looming night might ease my dread mistake,
(We each wear one, like passion Hushed away) ,
Forgiving light's last tryst I'll ever take,
Forever here, where fondest yearnings lay.
Each breath revives upbound in love's dismay,
Transcending life to wean but never slow,
As stars are woe when starlight cannot sway
On knees, to stars, confessed; where did dreams go?
Each evening pleads throughout the austere day,
What words oft' scream to bear each sullen night,
When fevered passions gleam in dreary grey
Each distant dream to weep for its lost sight.
Still clinging dear to light as stars have done,
'Til unforgiving dawn sends in the Sun.
